New Report to Reveal Asia Pacific's Association Sector at a Critical Turning Point
First-ever State of Asia Pacific Associations report to be unveiled at APSAE Summit 2026, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, 24 July
The Asia Pacific Society of Association Executives (APSAE) will present the inaugural State of Asia Pacific Associations report at the APSAE Summit 2026 on 24 July 2026 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore — the first report of its kind dedicated exclusively to the association sector across the Asia Pacific region.
The report arrives at a moment of significant tension for the sector. Asia Pacific currently powers more than half of global economic growth, yet its association sector — comprising tens of thousands of organisations across over 20 economies — remains largely fragmented, operating in silos with limited regional infrastructure and a heavy dependence on membership dues. Despite the region's growing global influence, the associations driving industries, professions, and communities across APAC have had no dedicated regional body, no shared frameworks, and no collective voice — until now.
At the same time, the region faces a deepening talent crisis. New data reveals that nearly four in five employers across Asia Pacific — 80% — report significant difficulty finding skilled talent. Associations, as the natural home of professional development, certification, and industry standards, are uniquely positioned to help close this gap. Yet many lack the governance frameworks, digital infrastructure, and regional connections to fulfil that potential.
The State of Asia Pacific Associations Report examines these tensions directly — mapping the forces reshaping the region's association ecosystem and identifying the priorities that will determine which associations thrive and which are left behind. Key areas covered include AI adoption and digital transformation, non-dues revenue models, volunteer and leadership pipelines, cross-border collaboration, advocacy, and the role of associations as economic and community impact drivers.
"This report is the first serious attempt to understand the state of association leadership across our region on its own terms — not through the lens of models built in other regions," said Prasant Saha, President of APSAE. "Asia Pacific's association sector is at a critical turning point. The findings will challenge assumptions, surface urgent priorities, and give association leaders the evidence they need to make the case for investment, relevance, and impact."
The report will be presented for the first time to delegates attending the APSAE Summit 2026 on 24 July, before being made available publicly following the Summit.
