Business Leaders Call for Greater Connectivity Across Asia-Pacific

The importance of regional connectivity is becoming a recurring theme throughout Asia-Pacific’s economic and business agenda.

Earlier this year, the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) launched its 2026 work program under the theme “Openness, Connectivity, Synergy.” The initiative reflects growing concern that economic fragmentation and geopolitical uncertainty could slow growth unless economies work together more effectively.

ABAC leaders have emphasized the need for stronger regional integration, resilient supply chains, greater mobility of talent and knowledge, and deeper collaboration between public and private sectors. The goal is not simply economic growth, but creating a more connected and innovative regional ecosystem.

For associations, this presents a strategically unique opportunity.

Associations have traditionally served as conveners, connectors, and facilitators of professional communities. As industries increasingly operate across borders, associations can play a larger role in helping members access regional networks, share best practices, and build strategic partnerships throughout Asia-Pacific.

The growing focus on connectivity reinforces the importance of platforms that bring association leaders together to exchange insights and strengthen collaboration across the region.
